TAV AIRPORTS: AIR CARGO TRANSPORT AT SKOPJE AIRPORT GREW OVER 40% FROM JANUARY UNTIL AUGUST
TAV Macedonia, a subsidiary of TAV Airports reports a 41,9% increase in air cargo transportation, for the first 8 months of 2024 from Skopje International Airport, compared to the same period in 2023
In the period from January until August this year, the Cargo Center at Skopje International Airport had 41,9% more cargo shipments to organize, to be transported by air.
The impressive growth, or 3,062,736 tons of total air cargo and trucked service from January until August 2024, highlights Skopje International Airport Cargo Center's expanding role in local, regional and global logistics, as well as its strategic importance in the international supply chain.
“This outstanding 41,9% increase in total air cargo transport as of August 2024 demonstrates the resilience and adaptability of TAV Macedonia and Skopje International Airport. Our 24/7 available export cargo services and our team’s dedication, combined with our ongoing improvements in facilities and capacities, have positioned us as a vital regional hub for cargo operations. Furthermore, we are proud to note an increase in figures such as 18,7% for import cargo and 91,5% for export cargo, for January-August 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. The surge in air cargo volumes reflects the significant demand in the sector and the airport operator’s continued investments in infrastructure and services.
Namely, after TAV Airports, through its subsidiary TAV Macedonia, took over the operations and management of the Macedonian airports in 2010, a major investment was made in modern air cargo transport center facilities, the cargo handling capacities have been significantly enhanced.
In addition to the modern cargo warehouse, storage areas, and storage chambers for various types of special cargo, chemicals, dangerous goods, etc., TAV Macedonia Cargo Center also provides and enables additional benefits and advantages to the cargo service users.
Skopje International Airport Cargo Center benefits are: Efficient cargo aircraft handling at the cargo apron; special aircraft and trucks handling equipment; easy access for trucks necessary for combined transport for the regular road feeder service (RFS) and the regular truck deliveries; customs representation; as well as customs offices and cargo agents (freight forwarders), and all this for a better and more efficient communications and operations.

TAV Macedonia, in terms of air cargo transport through the Cargo Center within Skopje International Airport, completed the period January – August 2024 with a total of 3,062,736 tons of transported air cargo, which compared to 2023 figures for the same period, represents 41,9% increase, or 18,7% increase of the import, and 91,5% of the export cargo.
