Under the slogan – “Cleaning up today, for a sustainable tomorrow”, TAV Macedonia, a subsidiary of TAV Airports, this morning organized a cleaning-up activity along the shoreline of Ohrid Lake, as a proactive move towards sustainability and celebration of the Day of Ohrid Lake which is tomorrow 21st June.

Starting from the hiking path “Labino”, through the place where the river Grasnica meets Ohrid Lake, towards Magnus beach until the point where the river Daljan meets the Lake, in a length of approximately 1 kilometer, about 30 employees from Ohrid Airport volunteered to clean up the shoreline and contributed to the local environment.

The volunteers – employees from Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport have collected the garbage left on these beaches – or the plastic and paper trash, debris, and other pollutants that have accumulated over time in this area near the Lake.

"This initiative reflects TAV Airports’ dedication to making a positive impact in the communities where we operate. By partnering with local stakeholders and Ohrid Municipality, and leveraging our collective efforts, we aim to help in preserving the beauty of Ohrid Lake and promote a culture of environmental consciousness", said Nejat Kurt, TAV Macedonia General Manager.

After Ohrid Airport staff finished with the cleaning activity, according to the agreed with Ohrid Municipality, the public utility enterprise took over the bags with the collected garbage, to dispose it accordingly.
