TAV AIRPORTS: Skopje and Ohrid Airports air traffic growth continues, 6% increase in the number of passengers and 3% in the number of flights in the first nine months

The two Macedonian airports, Skopje International Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport served a total of 2,585,096 passengers in the first nine months, which is an increase of 6% compared to the same period last year.
The number of flights, however, in the same time period increased by 3%, i.e. the two airports served 20,141 flights from the beginning of the year to September.
“In the first nine months of the year, TAV Macedonia maintained the positive trend of growth and stability, thus once again confirming the success of our long-term strategy. These results are not accidental, they are the result of careful planning and continuous dedication to improving the services of the two Macedonian airports. This constant positive growth trend in numbers for these 9 months was largely influenced by the newly opened 8 routes from both airports at the beginning of the year, in cooperation with the airlines and the Government.

I am convinced that the stable growth will continue until the end of the year because in the coming period, 7 more new connections will be launched by Wizz Air. On 27th October the airline will start to fly from Skopje to Bari and Stockholm and from Ohrid to Basel. A day later, on October 28, the capital will be connected to Madrid and Larnaca. From December 15, to Prague and Cologne. Additionally, from 3rd November, easyJet is bringing back the route from Skopje to Geneva.
I expect a large number of passengers to be attracted by the new destinations that have already been announced for next year, from Skopje to Budapest and Naples, and from Ohrid to Milan which will start on March 30  2026, and from Ohrid to Wroclaw and Katowice on 7th and 8th June. Therefore, I would like to point out that in the coming period, TAV Macedonia will continue to work towards opening new routes and attracting new airlines for better connectivity of Macedonia to the world, says Neјat Kurt, TAV Macedonia General Manager.

According to the monthly statistics of TAV Macedonia, only in September, the two Macedonian airports served 329,523 passengers, which is 8% more compared to the same period last year, and 2,422 flights were realized, which is 1% more than last year.
The daily average of passengers also proves the stable increase. In the first nine months, at the Skopje airport on average 8,687 passengers travelled in one day, which is 5.7% more than last year daily average, while at Ohrid airport, 767 passengers traveled daily, which is 16.3% more compared to last year daily average.
The separate statistics for the two airports for the period from January to September show that 2,375,264 traveled through Skopje International Airport, which is 5.4% more than last year, while Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport recorded a high double-digit increase of 16.2% with 209,832 passengers served.
Istanbul is once again the most frequented destination from Skopje International Airport, including the two airports IGA and Sabiha Gokcen with a 16.9% market share.
It is followed by Basel Mulhaus (6.1%), Frankfurt (5.7%), Zurich (4.6%), Vienna (4.2%), Munich – Memmingen (4.1%) and Dortmund (4.1%).
The top five countries with the most direct flights are Turkey (25.1% market share in total passenger traffic), Germany (24.7%), Switzerland (10.9%), Italy (5.2%) and Austria (4.4%).
