TAV installed a new top-notch 2,4 million euro X-ray for baggage handling system at Skopje Airport

TAV Macedonia, a subsidiary of TAV Airports, completed the upgrade of the baggage handling system and the installation of the new X-ray machine at Skopje Airport, that is another capital investment of the airport operator in worth of 2,4 million EUR.
The upgrade process of the Skopje International Airport baggage handling system and the new x-ray machine installation started on 9th October and ended on 28th November.
The whole project has been completed in a less than 2-month period, during which the operations included a demounting of the “Standard 2” X-ray machine, installment of the new, “Standard 3” X-ray machine and equipment, and testing of the latest technology before the commencement thereof.

Now the passengers traveling from Skopje Airport, to complete all airport procedures, can arrive regularly - 2 hours before their flight.
Skopje Airport BHS was previously running with “Standard 2” X-ray equipment or conventional technology, and now, with this substantial investment that required redesigning and reconfiguring the BHS was upgraded with more powerful, Computer Tomography (CT) technology, or “Standard 3”, which is the highest standard set by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC).
TAV Macedonia General Manager, Nejat Kurt, also added that TAV’s investment in “Standard 3” technology for security screening of the hold baggage is another capital investment of the airport operator, after Skopje Airport runway renovation that was done in 2022. Skopje International Airport now operates a baggage handling system upgraded with a sophisticated, and highest quality X-ray device manufactured by a renowned brand and it is the only one of this kind in the wider region.
TAV Macedonia, a subsidiary of TAV Airports, finished the first 10 months of 2023 with a 30% increase in passenger traffic, reaching a total of 2,6 million (2.647.816) passengers at both Macedonian airports in Skopje and in Ohrid, while the number of flights at the same period was 19.935 with a 20% annual increase.
